A group of 27 members and partners assembled at the Onslow Arms in Loxwood on a bright and sunny morning on Wednesday 5th February.
There was some initial confusion as another group from U3A were also gathering in the same car park for a walk. Would the pub be able to cope with both groups for lunch? I'm not sure what the locals made of it all.

Our group all set off together westwards along the towpath, which was a bit muddy and squelchy in places.

The engineers amongst us stopped to chat to some workmen restoring some brickwork on Devil's Hole Lock Bridge. And not surprisingly Probus was able to offer some advice; all that experience! The workmen didn't know what had hit them!

After the short walkers turned back to return to base, the long walkers left the towpath at Gennets Bridge to pick up the Sussex Border Path across to Alfold Bars and up Pigbush Lane.
We enjoyed some lovely countryside and views as we circled across some fields back towards Loxwood.

It was at this stage that we came across the u3a group who seemed to be a bit dispersed. It transpired that one of their group had got into some difficulties and seemed unable to carry on.
One of our organisers, Roy, who was bringing up the rear of our group, dropped back to help the chap get as far as a U3A vehicle pick-up point for him to be rescued.

Luckily not too many of the U3A group stayed for lunch, so the pub was able to cope with the 22 of our 27 that stayed to eat.
Another good Probus walk with a tremendous turn-out.
